The RTNN is excited to host the 2018 NNCI REU Convocation. The majority of the program will take place in Talley Student Union at NC State University. Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit both Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill during the event.
An agenda is available here. The event will be streamed live via the following links:
Registration: Please register using this form.
Hotel: Students will stay at the Brownstone Doubletree on Hillsborough Street.
Convocation locations: Most of the convocation will take place at Talley Student Union. This is a ~15-20 minute walk from the hotel. There is also a Wolfline bus stop across the street from the Aloft hotel (corner of Hillsborough and Pullen, near NC State’s Bell Tower). This is a short walk from the Doubletree. All Wolfline buses at this stop will get you close to Talley (get off bus at Reynold’s Coliseum or Carmichael Gym). More information about the Wolfline can be found here. You can track the buses’ locations here. A route map is available here.
UNC/Duke: We will take buses to both UNC and Duke. These will leave Talley promptly at the time noted on the agenda. The buses will drop students and staff back at their hotels after the event.
Transportation from airport: This cost should be covered by your respective NNCI site. For individual arrivals, I would suggest using Uber or Lyft. This website has more information on transportation from RDU to NC State.
If you are looking for some things to do in Raleigh, please visit this website.
Abstract submission: Please use this form to submit your abstract by Friday, July 27, 2018.
Oral presentation: Talks will be scheduled in 10 minute blocks: 8 minutes for the presentation followed by 2 minutes for questions. Presentation files will be due on Friday, August 3rd. Please upload a Microsoft PowerPoint file or pdf using this form.
Poster presentation: Each participant will also present a research poster one evening (either at Duke or UNC). If you are not already preparing a poster for your REU program, posters should be 48″ x 36″ (height x width). If you will prepare a poster for your site’s program, please follow your site’s guidelines.
Professional development: During lunch on the second day, there will be a few professional development opportunities. We will have faculty and staff available to review resumes, CVs, cover letters, graduate school essays, etc., and there will be a photographer to take headshots. If you are interested in this, please fill out this form. The photographer’s time will be limited so this will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Photo release form: Throughout the event, we will be taking photos. If you are comfortable with your photo being used on RTNN websites, social media, and print materials, please fill out and sign this form and email it to me.
